  1. There is controversy over the role of women in Islam because the history does not coincide with the present. In the past, the Quran was the first evidence of some gender equality in Islam. The Quran contained teachings and scriptures of both men and women. While, the history of Islam shows some authority of women, modern-day Islam does not respect the women as much as before. For example, there are debates over head covers for women. The religion states that women cover there heads and so muslims want to continue that, but the government is fighting it. The women of Islam are now wearing head scarves by choice and they want to continue. Overall, women want more authority, but at the same time they continue to follow the sexist Islamic rules.

  2. Women in Islam are treated like equals, they are a partner made for the man and are addressed as "mates." This type of treatment is due to multiple versus in the Koran, which establish the fact that men and women can both sin, they can both live life in the correct manner, and they can both be blessed in the afterlife. This way of viewing the female gender allows for women to be respected, and seen as a person of "comfort" for their husband. For example: Muhammad's wife A'isha is one of the people responsible for a Hadith, which is a piece of writing that serves as a personal view of Muhammad and how he pursued the perfect life according to God.

  3. There is a lot of controversy over women in Islam mainly because of discrepancies in the opinions of people. In the Quran, scriptures refer to equality and fairness between men and women, including equal protection and rewards in the afterlife. The Quran also disregards monasticism in scriptures. Some people read scriptures in the Quran that refer to women and assume that the scripture claims that women are not allowed to have the same rights as men (for example, women not being able to wear scarves over their heads). These assumptions create differences between how people understand the scriptures of the Quran in regards to the equality of women and men.

  4. There is controversy over the role of women in Islam because there are so many different viewpoints. While in many areas women are considered second-class citizens and are not given the same rights as men, they are mentioned in the Quran as men’s equals. Specifically, the Quran stresses women’s spiritual equality with men, referring to equal protection, the afterlife, and forgiveness. In addition, the overall economic position of women is rather stable when compared to other areas of the world. All in all, there are different opinions considered when discussing the role of women in Islam, making it a controversial topic.

  5. There is a controversy over the role of Islamic women because there are people who have different perspectives of these particular women. In most societies women are considered second class citizens. They are also not given the same basic rights as the males. However, Islam was the first religion to grant women status never known before. The Holy Quran states the men and women as equals. They are given the same spirituality. In addition, the economic position of women is said to be that Islam has been good in assigning women a position of economic independence. 6. The role of women in Islamic culture is extremely controversial because there are different views on the issue. In the Quran, the central religious text of Islam, women are portrayed as equals to men. There are stories from men and women in the holy text, as well as there being teachings in it that justify the equality of men and women. While these are included in the text, some readers of the Quran come out with sexist views and believe that men are worth more than women. The way women are treated today in Islamic civilizations are contrast to the teachings of the Quran.

  7. There is controversy over the role that women play in Islam because of people's different opinions and perspectives about the subject. The Quran talks ab out how men and women are equal. This made people respect that, so in the past men and women in Islam we treaded more equally. But in some places women were considered second class citizens, and not equal to men. And there has been more recent debates about the rights of women. For instance, if they should wear scarves over their heads, and other rights.

  8. Women in Islam is a controversial topic because their modern roles and views on women aren't parallel with the roles and views on women present in the Quran. In the Quran some women were actually authority figures because they wrote the Hadiths, but in modern Islam you don't see any women that are authority figures. The Quran completely disregards monasticism which is the devotion of ones life to a religion or study of it. The Quran also states that men and women are equal and have equal protection, the Quran even states that since women are more "vulnerable" that they need special or extra protection to make them as protected as men. But yet today in modern Islam we don't see these policies of the Quran being practiced. Even Islamic extremist groups that are devoted to the "protection" of Islam frequently exploit the innocence of women to carry out their attacks. Modern Islam currently is not parallel with the Quran in the perspectives of views on women.

  9. Women in Islam is controversial topic because what the Quran says does not match up with modern Islamic women. The Quran gave equality between men and women in life, and in after life. Women who wrote the Hadith were given positions of authority. That is ideology of Women in Islam. Modern Islam women is considered "second class citizens" and are not viewed as equally as men. There are even debated regarding the rights of a woman.

  10. Women in Islam is a controversial topic because of the drastic difference between the views of the Quran and modern Islam about them. As stated in the Quran, women were equal to men and they could even take positions of authority. These women wrote the Hadiths which recorded nearly everything about the Prophet. In modern Islam, there are no women in authority because they don't believe that women and men should have the same rights. In the Quran, men and women also have equal protection (women sometimes even received extra protection). We do not see this in modern Islam because women are seen as second class citizens who don't deserve the best, or any protection. The views of the Quran about women are nearly opposite to that of modern Islam, which makes it controversial.

  11. The Women in Islam is a controversial topic because of the two very different views of it. There is the Quran Which men and women have equal protection and are overall an equal to men. Then there is the modern view of women in Islam where women are viewed as less important and second in tier to men. What makes this controversial is that the two different views are so far different that people who follow one will be totally different then one of the other.
